How Your Art Donation Supports Our Programs

ArtCollect doesn't run its own charity programs — it publishes causes run by named external organisers, with their own published ledgers. Here's the actual structure.

Worth correcting up front: these aren't "our programs." ArtCollect is the platform that publishes and processes the gift; the programs themselves are run by named organisations we don't operate.

Who actually runs what

Every cause published on this platform names its own organiser — separate community trusts, arts organisations, and collectives, not an ArtCollect department. That distinction matters for accountability: a question about how a specific gift was used is a question for that named organiser, not for this platform's own staff.

What ArtCollect's role actually is

Three things, concretely: publishing each cause's own stated line items and donation tiers rather than a vague pitch, processing the payment (M-Pesa or card) and issuing a receipt at the moment of the gift, and hosting whatever ledger update the organiser chooses to publish afterward. That's a payments-and-publishing role, not a programme-delivery one.

Why this distinction is worth making plainly

A platform that lets "how your donation supports our programs" imply it runs the programs is quietly claiming credit — and quietly taking on accountability — that belongs to the actual organisers named on each cause page. We'd rather a donor know exactly whose ledger they're trusting.
